The county installs a large communication network for their traffic signals

Henrico County is home to the Richmond International Airport, an Amtrak rail passenger station, and the Richmond International Raceway hosting both the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series every year.

To serve the transportation needs of the growing population and numerous special events, the County’s system was in dire need of upgrades. The County selected Econolite Systems to deploy the Centracs ATMS along with a network to communicate with 100% of their traffic signals.

A significant component of the project was the installation of communication network including the installation of 50 FiOS drop points and 13 4G wireless modems to form the communication backbone. From these 63 locations, the project includes the installation of 154 2.4/5.8GHz radios.
