The Autoscope® Duo™ sensor is a hybrid radar and video vehicle detection system—the first in a new generation of hybrid sensor technology.  It merges the robust capabilities of radar and video detection technologies for the highest levels of detection accuracy in all traffic, lighting, weather, and pavement conditions, with the lowest cost of ownership.  The Autoscope Duo sensor provides a consistent vehicle detections solution, and inspires ITS applications of continuous data collection and traffic monitoring.

For transportation professionals, this multi-tasking vehicle detection sensor is the convergence of two proven and reliable technologies for optimal signal actuation. As a result, Autoscope Duo provides a superior alternative to in-ground detection. Integrated together, the radar and video detection algorithms expand the benefits of a non-intrusive detector. This guarantees years of low-maintenance service and significant return on investment, especially when compared to the recurring expense of common inductive loop detectors.

The Autoscope Duo detection system consists of one or more hybrid sensors (forward-fire radar transceivers paired with video cameras), a matching number of cabinet Autoscope Duo Detection Modules (DDM) with built-in I/O, and a breakout interface panel for power, video, and communications interconnect.  The system generates high performance detection outputs through the convergence of radar and video detection information with intelligent decision logic routines for detection accuracy.

Autoscope Duo features EasyLink connectivity for simple installation in the traffic cabinet, and IP-based integration with an agency’s communications network.  A single cable of twisted-pair RS-485 communications and video coax connects the sensor to the cabinet.  Standard USB and coax cables connect the DDM to the interface panel.  A standard CAT-5 cable connects the DDM to a network at 10/100 Mb/s speeds for local or remote access to streaming digital video, traffic data, detector files, and operations logs.

The Autoscope DDM is powered by a dual-core processor with Advanced RISC Machine (ARM) general-purpose processing in a small SoC package for exceptional performance and low power consumption.  Multi-threaded software processes radar and video information in real-time to detect vehicles, extract traffic data, identify incidents, and transmit detector outputs, while simultaneously streaming quality MPEG-4 video.

The DDM offers safe and secure, password protected access management.  The Duo detection system is compatible with shared network security strategies.
